Edition 2025 — Madonna di Acquaviva

On August 16, 2025, Marittima di Diso celebrated the Madonna di Acquaviva Festival with the traditional sea procession. After the solemn mass, the image of the Virgin was placed on a boat and carried along the coast to Cala dell'Acquaviva, accompanied by a procession of boats. The day continued with traditional Salento music and dance, the evening candlelight procession returning to the sanctuary, and a fireworks display over the sea.

The festival of August 16, 2025

In 2025, the small hamlet of Marittima, in the Municipality of Diso (province of Lecce), once again renewed its devotion to the Madonna di Acquaviva with mid-August celebrations. The central moment was the sea procession: the sacred image, having left the Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli, was transported by boat from Marina di Marittima to the evocative Cala dell'Acquaviva, followed by numerous boats of the faithful.

Upon returning, the community accompanied the icon with a candlelight procession through the village, amidst traditional Salento music and dance. The evening concluded with fireworks over the sea, in one of the most beautiful natural settings of the lower Adriatic Salento.
