Madonna della Murgia and Saint Placidus the Abbot Patronal Festival

The 2025 edition of the patronal festival of Castelnuovo della Daunia combined devotion and spectacle. The solemn Novena to the Madonna della Murgia took place from September 6th to 14th, with the Holy Rosary and Holy Mass.

September 15th, the solemnity of the Madonna della Murgia, featured the Solemn Holy Mass with the ritual of handing over the city keys to the Virgin and the procession with the Terre Daune flag-wavers group. From the early morning, the historic Livestock and Goods Fair was held, reaching its 197th edition, accompanied by morning musical performances by the Grande Banda "Città di Bracigliano". In the evening, in Piazza Plebiscito, a brass band concert and the traditional "Pirodaunia" fireworks display took place.

On September 16th, dedicated to Saint Placidus the Abbot, Mass and the procession were accompanied by the "L'Armonia Molfettese" band; in the evening, a concert by singer Syria preceded the pyrotechnic finale. The civil program had already featured shows and cabaret in the preceding days in Piazza Plebiscito.
