Edition 2025 — Madonna della Luce
The 2025 edition of the Madonna della Luce Festival took place in Ugento on Sunday, February 16th, 2025. The community gathered around the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Luce for the solemn Marian celebration.
On the feast day, the statue of the Madonna was carried in procession along the streets of the historic center to the Cathedral of the Assumption, accompanied by the music of the band and a crowd of devotees in prayer and song. After Holy Mass, the procession escorted the image back to the Sanctuary in a suggestive candlelight parade, according to the tradition that evokes the light of the 1563 miracle. There was no shortage of typical Salento village festival moments, with religious songs and fireworks.
