Madonna della Luce and The Giants Festival

In 2025, the Madonna della Luce and The Giants Festival once again renewed its secular rite in Mistretta. On the afternoon of September 7th, the statue of the Virgin was brought into town for the meeting with the Giants Kronos and Mithia, who performed their ritual dance in the Mother Church square.

On September 8th, the day of the feast, the solemn procession wound through the streets of the historic center accompanied by the band, with the Madonna escorted by the two Giants. The celebration concluded with the traditional bonfire, which reaffirms the theme of light, and the final dance of the Giants in the square in front of the Sanctuary, confirming the festival as one of the most evocative events in the Nebrodi.
