The 2025 Madonna del Carmine Festival in Tuglie

The 2025 edition, held on July 16th and 17th, confirmed the strong bond between the municipality of Tuglie, in the province of Lecce, and its patron saint. As every year, the day of July 16th, the liturgical date of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel, opened at dawn with pyrotechnic salutes.

The heart of the celebrations was the Procession of the Angels: the papier-mâché statue of the Madonna, carried through the streets of the center, was escorted by children dressed as little angels, in a procession that recalls the fresco on the high altar. The band accompanied the day, while the evening featured concerts, performances, and the traditional release of hot air balloons, culminating in a grand final fireworks display.

The second evening, July 17th, offered the more social side of the festival, with music, markets, and food stalls featuring the flavors of Salento cuisine, in an atmosphere that involved residents and visitors in the heart of Salento.
