Madonna del Carmine Festival

The 2025 edition of the Madonna del Carmine Festival in Presicce (Presicce-Acquarica, province of Lecce) took place on July 15th and 16th, confirming a tradition rooted in lower Salento. The central moment was the solemn procession with the statue of the Virgin of Mount Carmel through the streets of the historic center, accompanied by confraternities and a large participation of the faithful.

Alongside the religious dimension, the civil program offered the typical elements of a Salento village festival: illuminations along the streets, concerts by traveling brass bands in the bandstand, a street market with stalls, and, at the conclusion of the festivities, the evening fireworks display that illuminated the sky of the Capo di Leuca.

The festivities were spread over the two days of July 15th and 16th. The procession with the statue of the Madonna del Carmine traveled through the streets of the historic center, followed by concerts by traveling brass bands in the bandstand and the entertainment of the street market. The final evening was entrusted to the traditional fireworks display.
