Madonna del Canneto Festival

The 2025 edition

The 2025 Madonna del Canneto Festival took place in Gallipoli from July 1st to 4th. The highlight was the evening of July 2nd, the liturgical solemnity of the patron saint, with the sea procession at 8:00 PM: the statue of the Virgin, 2.30 meters tall and the work of sculptor Tiziano Scarpina, emerged from the waters of the Seno del Canneto and was carried by divers to the Rivellino pier, where Gallipoli fishermen welcomed her for the procession toward the sanctuary. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Msgr. Ottavio Vitale.

From July 1st to 4th, the third edition of the Historical Re-enactment of the ancient Canneto Fair enclosure was held, with the exhibition and sale of typical Salento agri-food products in the square in front of the church and along the pier. On July 4th, the "Cantantibus organis" concert took place in the sanctuary with maestro Luigi Celeghin and the Canneto Choir directed by Gabriella Stea.

July 2, 2025 — Liturgical Solemnity

• 8:00 PM — Sea procession: emergence of the Madonna's statue from the Seno del Canneto and arrival at the Rivellino pier, welcomed by fishermen
• Followed by — Procession toward the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Canneto and solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Msgr. Ottavio Vitale

July 1 - 4, 2025 — Canneto Fair
