Lodrino Contrade Carnival

A district-by-district carnival

In the heart of Val Trompia, in the province of Brescia, Lodrino celebrates its carnival in a unique way: not a simple parade, but a real competition between the four historic districts of the town. Leon d'Oro, Dosso-Invico, MorandEla, and Grillo compete for the coveted Carnival Palio by staging original shows, each with its own theme and costumes. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Sunday, February 8th.

Shows in the squares

In the early afternoon, between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, the four districts liven up the town squares with shows full of special effects, repeated several times to allow everyone to attend. Each district presents its theme: from the mythological characters of "Hercules and the Gods" by Leon d'Oro to "Safari Adventure" by Dosso-Invico, from MorandEla's marine world ("All aboard, the sea is celebrating") to Grillo's "flock". A competition of imagination and staging that involves the entire community.

The party at the Sports Centre

From 4:00 PM, the party moves to the Sports Centre, where the anticipation for the verdict is eased by food stalls - fritters, cotton candy, the unmissable Brescia-style salami - and bouncy castles for the little ones. The day concludes with the lottery draw and, at 6:00 PM, the announcement of the winning district of the Palio.

A village tradition

Organized by the Culture Commission, the Contrade Carnival is one of the most cherished events in Lodrino and the entire upper Val Trompia. The rivalry between the districts, experienced in a spirit of fun, is the driving force behind a festival that mobilizes the town every year and attracts visitors from neighbouring municipalities, in one of the most characteristic valleys of the Bresciano region.
