Living Nativity of the Oil Mills and Courtyards

The 7th edition of the Living Nativity of the Oil Mills and Courtyards animated the historic center of Casarano during the 2024-2025 Christmas period, open on December 25, 26, and 29, and from January 1 to 6, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

The route, with access from Via Basento and parking on Via Sesia, wound through alleys, gardens, and underground oil mills with 26 scenes: artisan workshops, the temple, Herod's palace, and the Holy Family, with the main scene set in the "De Luca" Underground Oil Mill on Via Pendino. Along the way, there were tastings of pittule.

Among the most intense moments was the arrival of the Lamp of Peace from Santa Maria di Leuca, welcomed on December 26th to the sound of bagpipes at the Nativity grotto, and the "Wall of Peace," an installation with projections dedicated to the theme of peace. Organized by the "Cantico delle Creature" Franciscan Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Casarano.
