A series of civil encounters in the town of Giacomo Matteotti
"Literature, Memory, and Resistance" is a cultural review held in Fratta Polesine, in the province of Rovigo, between May and June. Born to cultivate historical memory and the values of democracy, it offers a series of meetings with historians, constitutionalists, writers, and witnesses, dedicated to the Resistance, the birth of the Republic, and civil engagement.
The review has a special significance because it takes place in the birthplace of Giacomo Matteotti, the socialist deputy assassinated in 1924, a symbol of civil courage and opposition to the dictatorship. The meetings are held in places of great value: Villa Badoer, a UNESCO heritage Palladian masterpiece, Villa Molin-Avezzù, the Il Manegium Museum, and the municipal seat, in a journey that combines culture, history, and the heritage of the Polesine region.
The review is organized by the Inter-municipal ANPI "G. Matteotti" together with the municipal administration of Fratta Polesine and the Matteotti House Museum. More than just a series of conferences, it is an opportunity to pass on democratic values to younger generations and to reflect, through the figure of Matteotti, on the relationship between memory, freedom, and civil responsibility.
The 2026 edition, the second, offers seven events from May to June, on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of Giacomo Matteotti's assassination and the 80th anniversary of the Republic and women's suffrage. The review is organized by the Inter-municipal ANPI "G. Matteotti" with the municipal administration and the Matteotti House Museum.
The meetings range from history to the Constitution, from the role of women in the Resistance to the parliamentary figure of Matteotti, with nationally renowned speakers, and are held in the historic villas and venues of Fratta Polesine.
Venues: Villa Badoer, Villa Molin-Avezzù, Il Manegium Museum, municipal seat.
