Meetings with literary giants at the Capretti Auditorium in Brescia
The Literary Month is one of the most refined cultural reviews in Brescia: born to bring the reading of classics back to the centre, it offers a cycle of meetings every spring in which the great works of literature are presented and commented on by authoritative voices. The event is promoted by the Mese Letterario Association and the San Benedetto Foundation and is held in the capital of the Province of Brescia.
Each edition is built around a theme that unifies the evenings. The one chosen for 2026 — "Exploring the explorable, venerating the unexplored" — invites reflection on the boundary between what human knowledge can reach and what remains a mystery. The appointments are arranged around this common thread, each dedicated to an author and their work.
The meetings take place at the Capretti Auditorium, within the Istituto Artigianelli on Via Brigida Avogadro, a cozy space suitable for listening. The evenings generally start at 8:30 PM and feature the participation of writers, translators, researchers, and sometimes musicians, in a dialogue that intertwines text, interpretation, and music.
The Literary Month has a strong link with the world of schools: students and teachers can request certificates of participation, and many meetings are designed to introduce young people to the reading of classics. Admission is free with registration, confirming the event's educational and open vocation in Brescia.
The 2026 edition, the sixteenth, revolves around the theme "Exploring the explorable, venerating the unexplored." There are four events, all at the Capretti Auditorium of the Istituto Artigianelli at 8:30 PM, with writers, translators, and scholars guiding the audience through the great authors of tradition. Free admission with registration.
