Letojanni in Musica: The Music Festival on the Ionian Coast
Letojanni in Musica is the annual event through which the Municipality of Letojanni, located on the Ionian coast of the Metropolitan City of Messina, Sicily, celebrates the Music Day on June 21st. Promoted by the Pro Loco Letojanni APS, a tourism promotion association active in the area since 1968, the event adheres to the Budapest Principles and the original spirit of the Fête de la Musique: bringing music everywhere, freely and openly, to foster encounters between musicians and the public.
Music spread throughout the town
The format is that of spread-out music: on the same evening, numerous simultaneous musical stations light up across pubs, bars, restaurants, and outdoor spaces in the center of Letojanni. As visitors walk through the town, they move from one stage to another, discovering a different genre at every corner. Performances range from pop to rock'n'roll, swing to folk, and jazz to Latin music, including contemporary sounds, DJ sets, solo vocalists, saxophonists, violinists, and live bands.
An open and participatory event
Letojanni in Musica was born with a distinctly inclusive spirit: the invitation is open to professionals, amateurs, and young local musicians, in line with the European spirit of the Music Day that encourages musical exchange between countries. For the Pro Loco and the municipal administration, it is also a sign of the village's social and cultural vitality, capable of enlivening the center at the start of summer as Letojanni prepares to welcome the tourist season.

Known for its long beach and its proximity to Taormina and the Messina area, Letojanni is a popular seaside destination in north-eastern Sicily. The Music Day evening is part of a rich summer calendar of events curated by the Pro Loco, which offers festivals, markets, and concerts throughout the warm season. Experiencing Letojanni in Musica means combining the atmosphere of the Ionian waterfront with the pleasure of a night of free, live music spread throughout the town's streets.

The 2026 edition of Letojanni in Musica took place on Sunday, June 21, 2026, coinciding with the Music Day, under the direction of the Pro Loco Letojanni APS. The evening featured numerous simultaneous musical stations spread across the center's venues, active from 7:00 PM until late in the evening.
Among the animated musical points: AMMARI with MariaElena Live, Horn Pub with Giuseppe Candurra, Florian with the violin notes of Luisa Grasso, Gola' with Pedro DJ, Caffè del Mare with Gabri DJ, Flamingo with Sebastian Sax, Twin Pub with Luana Miano, Duo Armony, Mizzica with rock'n'roll, swing, and folk, and R2S Supernova Live. A mosaic of genres spread throughout the village, with free admission.

How to get there
Letojanni is located along the Ionian coast of the Metropolitan City of Messina. By car, it can be reached via the A18 Messina-Catania motorway (Taormina exit, just a few kilometers away). By train, the Letojanni station is on the Messina-Siracusa line, with regional stops. The nearest airports are Catania-Fontanarossa and Reggio Calabria.
Admission and hours
Admission to Letojanni in Musica is free. Performances take place in the evening, roughly from 7:00 PM until late at night, at the various musical stations in the center.
Tips
It is best to reach the center on foot and move between the different venues to listen to various musical genres. During the summer months, booking accommodation in advance in Letojanni or nearby Taormina is highly recommended.
