Lecce Christmas Markets

In December 2025, the historic center of Lecce hosted a rich calendar of Christmas markets. In Piazza Sant'Oronzo, the wooden chalets (from December 8 to 21, open 10:00-13:30 and 15:00-23:00) offered local crafts, papier-mâché, terracotta, Lecce stone, and ceramics, along with pasticciotti, mustazzoli, sweet taralli, and Salento wines, as part of the "Che Tipico Natale" initiative.

The heart of the tradition, the Fiera di Santa Lucia dei Pupi, took place in the Chiostro dei Teatini (December 1-23), featuring papier-mâché and terracotta nativity figurines created by Salento's master puppet makers. Subsequently, the Salento Craft Fair animated the same cloister from December 27 to January 6, 2026. In Piazza Mazzini, the fair of toys, decorations, and gifts, featuring the "Merry Go Round" vintage carousel, and the Creativity Market on Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Via Trinchese completed the circuit until January 8.

On December 8, the lighting of the tree in Piazza Sant'Oronzo and the illuminations in the historic center officially kicked off Christmas in Lecce, enriched by nativity scene exhibitions in Piazza Duomo, Via Rubichi, and various city churches.
