La Notte della Taranta - Calimera Stop

The Calimera stop of La Notte della Taranta 2025 was held on Monday, August 4, 2025, between Piazza Gabrieli and Piazza Partigiani, starting at 8:30 PM with free admission.

The evening revolved around the theme "From Pasolini to the Red Brigades, discussing the Years of Lead", in a dialogue between historical memory and folk music. The Taranta Talk featured journalist and writer Giovanni Bianconi, who recalled the visit Pier Paolo Pasolini made to Calimera in 1975 to listen to the moroloja, the ancient Griko funeral songs.

The stage featured Maria Mazzotta, with her musical storytelling "Onde," and Stella Grande, a historic voice of the La Notte della Taranta Popular Orchestra, in a show that combined Salento tradition with contemporary sounds, closing the evening with the rhythm of the pizzica.
