La Madonna che Véle

2025 Edition

On Easter Sunday 2025, the historic center of Introdacqua once again hosted the La Madonna che Véle ritual, an unmissable event of the Holy Week in the Peligna Valley. At noon, the statue of the Madonna dressed in mourning emerged from the Salita di San Rocco, carried on the shoulders of four young men selected by public auction, to then perform the Volata to meet the Risen Christ amidst the sound of firecrackers and the notes of the band. The falling of the black mantle and the appearance of the sky-blue dress moved the many faithful and visitors present, before the traditional procession along the village streets with the two confraternities and city authorities.
