The priest on a bicycle

In Caravaggio, in the province of Bergamo, the memory of Don Pierino Crispiatico is still alive. Originally from Barbata and passed away in the city in March 1990 at the age of 86, he was known as the "priest on a bicycle." In his memory, La Bicicletada di Don Pierino is held every year, a bike ride open to all that blends sport, devotion, and a sense of community.

A bike ride for everyone

The meeting point is in Piazzale Morettini, from where a route starts that crosses the historic centre and ventures into the surrounding countryside, among farmhouses and country roads of the Bassa Bergamasca. It is not a race, but an intergenerational bike ride: families, children, the elderly, and enthusiasts pedal together in a festive atmosphere, in an event that in recent editions has gathered hundreds of participants.

A choral event

The organization involves the Don Pidrì and Don Pierino Foundation along with numerous local associations and groups, including the Agesci Scouts, who often lead prayer moments along the route. It is an event deeply rooted in the life of Caravaggio, born in 1990 and grown to become an anticipated appointment, capable of uniting the sporting dimension with that of remembrance.
