Edition 2025 — Klöckeln

In 2025, the Klöckeln of the Sarntal Valley took place on the three Thursday evenings of Advent preceding the winter solstice: December 4, 11, and 18. As per secular tradition, groups of hooded Klöckler traveled from house to house through the valley's villages, amidst the racket of cowbells and horns and the songs of the Klöckellied and the Danklied, re-enacting one of the most original folk rituals of the Alpine region.

The 2025 edition of Klöckeln in the Sarntal Valley was held on the three Thursday evenings of Advent: December 4, 11, and 18, 2025. On each evening, groups of masked and hooded Klöckler went out at dusk into the streets of Sarnthein and the other villages of the valley.

Faithful to a ritual unchanged since the 16th century, the Klöckler - with the Zussler, the masked bridal couple - knocked from house to house, making cowbells, sticks, and ram's horns resound, and singing the Klöckellied and the Danklied in exchange for schnapps and sweets. The Klöckeln evenings also accompanied the valley's Advent atmosphere in 2025, along with the Sarner Alpenadvent market.
