Jamit Fest - Jamaican Culture Week

The second edition of Jamit Fest was held from August 1 to 7, 2025, confirming the festival as one of the most original cultural events of the Salento summer. The festival involved numerous towns: Martano (home to the Jamaica House at the Palazzo Ducale), San Donato di Lecce (Sound System Village at the Parco dello Sport), as well as Trepuzzi, Lecce, Leverano, San Foca, Lizzanello, Nardò, Taranto, and Supersano.

The highlight in San Donato di Lecce was the concert by Anthony B, a legend of Jamaican reggae, on August 4 at the Parco dello Sport, with guests Rankin Lele, Papale Usalento, Striuzzo, Flavio Ghettoeden, and Justess Joan, and DJs Morello Selecta, Santo Mighty Bass, and Gigi Selecta. The week featured dub poetry workshops, dancehall lessons, patois courses, and Jamaican film screenings, with the support of the Jamaica Tourist Board and the Puglia Region.

Widespread event (August 1-7, 2025). Jamaica House at the Palazzo Ducale in Martano (6 PM - 10 PM daily): exhibitions on the history of Jamaican music, fusion cuisine, workshops, DJ sets, and screenings. Sound System Village in San Donato di Lecce, Parco dello Sport (August 4): concert by Anthony B with Rankin Lele, Papale Usalento, Striuzzo, Flavio Ghettoeden, Justess Joan; DJs Morello Selecta, Santo Mighty Bass, Gigi Selecta; workshops on patois and sound systems. Activities also held in Trepuzzi (Masseria Provenzani), Lecce (Dancehall School), Leverano (Birra & Sound), San Foca, Lizzanello, Nardò (Porto Selvaggio), Taranto, and Supersano. Dub poetry workshops with Simone Dewar, "Learn di Lyrics", dancehall lessons, "Jamaican Independence 101"; Jamaican film festival (Agwe, Stinky Mango, The Lunatic, Kumina Queen).
