About Organ Review Campobasso

The International Organ Review brings some of the best organists on the international scene to Campobasso every May for a series of free concerts in the city's churches. Organized by the 'Walter De Angelis' Friends of Music Association, the review showcases the precious organ in the Cathedral of the SS. Trinità and offers programs ranging from early music to Bach, from Franck to contemporary premieres.

The Organ Takes Centre Stage in Campobasso

The International Organ Review is one of the most refined events in the musical calendar of Campobasso, the capital of Molise. Every year, in May, the event features a series of organ concerts performed by internationally renowned artists, with free admission.

Churches as Concert Halls

The concerts are mainly held in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, whose organ is once again resonating after maintenance work, and in the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate. The review is curated by the 'Walter De Angelis' Friends of Music Association, with artistic direction by Antonella De Angelis.

Programs from Early Music to Contemporary

The repertoire spans centuries of organ literature: from the early music of Frescobaldi, Sweelinck, and Froberger to the great names of the German Baroque such as Bach and Walther, through to the French Romanticism of Franck and Boëllmann, and premieres by contemporary composers. A sonic journey that makes the review a point of reference for lovers of sacred and organ music in Molise.

Organ Review Campobasso — edition 2026

The eighth edition features four concerts, all at 7:15 PM and free admission: on May 8th Vincent Thévenaz (Geneva), on May 15th Alessio Colasurdo with a world premiere by Chaigne, on May 22nd Luca Maresca with a program of early music, and on May 29th Yulia M. Bakina from Russia.

The eighth edition of the International Organ Review of Campobasso is structured into four concerts, from May 8 to 29, 2026, all at 7:15 PM and with free admission. Artistic direction is by Antonella De Angelis, with Antonio Colasurdo as co-director. The Cathedral's organ, donated in 1993, will resonate again after extraordinary maintenance.

The program brings together performers from Geneva, Campobasso, Naples, and Russia, with repertoires ranging from early music to French Romanticism, including a world premiere by composer Chaigne.
