About Organ Festival Corinaldo

An evening of great sacred music in the heart of Corinaldo: the local stop of the International Organ Festival City of Senigallia brings an organ concert to the Diocesan Sanctuary of Santa Maria Goretti, performed on the historic Gaetano Callido instrument from 1767. A free event, immersed in the contemplation of one of the most evocative churches in the Marche village, dedicated to lovers of organ repertoire and anyone wishing to discover a living ancient sound heritage.

The International Organ Festival in Corinaldo

Every summer, the International Organ Festival City of Senigallia (FOI) extends beyond the coastal city to reach the inland villages of the Ancona province: among these, Corinaldo, in the Province of Ancona, is one of the most anticipated stops. Founded in Senigallia over twenty years ago, the festival is now a travelling event that showcases the extraordinary variety of historic organs housed in the churches of the Marche region, entrusting them to the hands of international concert performers.

An Evening in the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Goretti

In Corinaldo, the concert takes place in the Diocesan Sanctuary of Santa Maria Goretti, a place linked to the figure of the young saint and a pilgrimage destination. The Corinaldo stop is part of the celebrations dedicated to Saint Maria Goretti (July 5-6), adding a moment of beauty and contemplation through music to the religious services.

The Gaetano Callido Organ of 1767

The true protagonist of the evening is the historic organ built by Gaetano Callido in 1767 (opus 35), restored in 1987 by the Fratelli Ruffatti company of Padua. Located in the choir loft above the entrance, the instrument retains the typical 18th-century Venetian organ configuration: a 45-key keyboard with a short first octave, a music-stand pedalboard, division between bass and treble, and a rich palette of stops (Principale, Flauto, Cornetta, Violoncello, Tromboncini, up to the characteristic Tamburo). Listening to it live means bringing back to life a timbre that has resonated within these walls for over two and a half centuries.

A Festival Spread Across the Marche

Promoted by the Fondazione dott. Leopoldo Uccellini with the support of the Municipality of Senigallia, the Diocese, and the participation of local Municipalities (including Corinaldo, Ostra, Ostra Vetere, Serra de' Conti, Chiaravalle, and Belvedere Ostrense), and under the patronage of the Marche Region, the FOI is a series that combines cultural tourism and the preservation of organ heritage. Each concert has free admission, designed to bring the widest possible audience closer to organ music.

Corinaldo, a Village to Discover

Included among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, Corinaldo welcomes visitors with its famous 15th-century walls, the scenic staircase of the Pozzo della Polenta (Well of the Polenta), and a historic centre that invites a stroll before or after the concert. The organ evening thus becomes an opportunity to combine musical listening with a visit to one of the most fascinating places in the Marche.
