Immaculate Conception Torchlight Procession

In 2025, the Immaculate Conception Torchlight Procession in Sciara, in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, renewed its secular ritual. The festivities opened on December 6th with a concert by the Gospel Project Choir at the Church of Sant'Anna, followed by a tasting of typical Sicilian products, an initiative by the Pro Loco, the Parish of Sant'Anna, and the Freedom association.

On the night between December 7th and 8th, at 4:00 AM, the bells and the band called the community to the Parish Church on Via Roma. Hundreds of the faithful, in two long lines, illuminated the procession of the Immaculate Conception statue—the town's co-patron—with ampelodesmos torches, concluding at dawn with the Mass of the Aurora. Once again in 2025, the Torchlight Procession confirmed its charm as a unique popular ritual in Sicily.
