Edition 2025 — Immaculate Conception Bonfires
In 2025, the Immaculate Conception Bonfires of Castellammare di Stabia confirmed the strength of popular tradition, despite the controversy. The official initiative organized by the municipal administration on the shoreline did not go as planned: the pyres were not lit, and numerous citizens left the municipal villa disappointed. Mayor Luigi Vicinanza offered his apologies, attributing the service failure to the appointed company.
Keeping the tradition alive were, once again, the neighborhoods: on the night of December 7th to 8th, the districts of Castellammare lit their «fucaracchi» amidst neomelodic songs, fireworks, and the usual festive atmosphere, despite the wood seizures carried out by law enforcement. A sign of how this ritual, in the province of Naples and throughout Campania, remains deeply rooted in the identity of Stabia.
