The first Zonal of Pantelleria
The 2025 edition marked a historic debut for island sailing: the first zonal regatta ever organized in Pantelleria. On May 17 and 18, 2025, in the waters of the Port of Scauri, the 4th leg of the Committee Trophy of the VII FIV Zone was held, reserved for the Optimist class.
About 80 boats with children and teenagers aged 8 to 16 competed for two days, representing ten Sicilian sailing clubs, including Circolo Vela Sicilia Palermo, Club Nautico Augusta, Club Nautico NIC Catania, Circolo Velico Kaucana Syracuse, and Lega Navale Trapani. The event, organized by the Circolo Velico Isola di Pantelleria with the support of the Sicilian Region and the Municipality of Pantelleria, laid the foundations for the island's growing sailing vocation, confirmed the following year by the ILCA Zonal Championship leg.
