About Circolo di Ave

From Martha Argerich to Arcadi Volodos, from great string quartets to young European talents: the Circolo di Ave Concert Season brings some of the most prestigious names in international classical music to Fermo, in the Marche region. Directed by Anna Danielli, the festival combines the charm of the 18th-century Teatro dell'Aquila and the intimacy of Palazzo Brancadoro, with occasional events in Milan. An unmissable event for chamber music enthusiasts in central Italy.

A season of chamber music in the heart of the Marche

The Circolo di Ave Concert Season is one of the most refined musical events in the Fermo area and throughout the Marche region. Organized by the Associazione Il Circolo di Ave APS, with the artistic direction of President Anna Danielli, the festival has built a reputation that extends beyond regional borders in just a few years, bringing to Fermo performers usually heard only in the grand concert halls of Vienna, Paris, or Tokyo.

The venues: between historic theatre and noble palaces

The heart of the season beats between two fascinating venues in the historic center of Fermo, the capital of the province of the same name (abbreviation FM). The Teatro dell'Aquila, a splendid 18th-century Italian-style theatre, hosts concerts by great soloists and orchestras. Palazzo Brancadoro, a noble residence in the upper part of the city, hosts chamber recitals and ensembles in a more intimate and warm setting. Over the years, the festival has also extended to Milan, with previews in prestigious spaces like Palazzo Recalcati, confirming the ambition of a project that connects the Marche region with the major musical capitals.

Great names and young talents

The hallmark of Circolo di Ave is the balance between legendary performers and new generations. The Fermo stage has hosted pianists of the caliber of Martha Argerich, Arcadi Volodos, Sir András Schiff, Zlata Chochieva, violinists like Maxim Vengerov and Augustin Hadelich, as well as ensembles such as the Orchestra Mozart, the Quartetto Ébène, the Quartetto Prometeo, and the Ensemble d'Archi Brancadoro, the resident ensemble linked to the association itself.

A cultural project for the territory

More than just a festival, Circolo di Ave is a cultural outpost for Fermo and the entire Marche Region. The season enjoys the support of the Ministry of Culture (National Fund for Live Performance), the Marche Region, the Municipality of Fermo, and the Fondazione Marche Cultura, as well as numerous private sponsors from the local economic fabric. A virtuous model that demonstrates how a provincial town can become a destination for the general public of classical music.

For lovers of chamber and piano repertoire, an evening at the Circolo di Ave Season is the perfect opportunity to combine top-level listening with the discovery of Fermo's historic center, its palaces, and its history.

Circolo di Ave — edition 2026

The 2026 leg of the VIII Circolo di Ave Season brought a stellar lineup to Fermo: from Martha Argerich's city debut with Gabriele Baldocci to Arcadi Volodos' recital, from the Prometeo Quartet to Augustin Hadelich's violin, and the young Erinys Quartet. A sequence of events between Teatro dell'Aquila and Palazzo Brancadoro that confirmed Fermo as a crossroads for great chamber music in the Marche region.

The VIII Concert Season of Circolo di Ave, from September 7, 2025, to May 9, 2026, featured ten events in total. The 2026 events, in particular, represented the most anticipated part of the program, with world-famous performers choosing Fermo's Teatro dell'Aquila and Palazzo Brancadoro. Artistic director Anna Danielli curated a program alternating piano titans and established chamber ensembles, maintaining the festival's dual focus: internationally renowned soloists at the historic theatre, chamber ensembles in the intimate setting of the noble palace.
