I Cortili della Storia

The 29th edition of I Cortili della Storia was held on September 20 and 21, 2025, confirming the traditional appointment of the third weekend of September. Organized by the Pro Loco of Sant'Egidio del Monte Albino, the event brought the old town back to the atmosphere of the 16th century with costumed participants, period music, and scenes of daily life reconstructed in the courtyards.

On Saturday evening, after the official opening, the public was able to visit the open courtyards and the medieval arts and crafts fair, featuring falconers, jesters, fire-eaters, acrobats, sword fighting demonstrations, and theatrical moments. On Sunday, the medieval market enlivened the historic center from late morning, with tastings also hosted at Palazzo Ferrajoli della Fontana.

The most attended moment was the Historical Pageant, which departed in the late afternoon from Piazza Municipio and headed to the Abbey of Santa Maria Maddalena in Armillis for the re-enactment of the election of the Special Mayor of the ancient University of Sant'Egidio. On the menu were the area's signature dishes: hand-worked fusillo sangiliano, pasta di sciunelle, stewed meats, and citrus desserts.

Saturday, September 20, 2025 - Official opening at 8:00 PM; visit to the courtyards, medieval arts and crafts fair, performances by falconers, jesters, fire-eaters, and acrobats, sword fighting demonstrations, and theatrical shows in the village alleys.

Sunday, September 21, 2025 - Medieval market from 11:30 AM; tastings of typical dishes, also at Palazzo Ferrajoli della Fontana. At 5:30 PM, departure of the Historical Pageant from Piazza Municipio towards the Abbey of Santa Maria Maddalena in Armillis, with the re-enactment of the election of the Special Mayor. From 8:00 PM, grand finale with themed shows and entertainment.
