Edition 2025 — Hortus

The autumn 2025 edition of Hortus Ostuni took place from October 31 to November 2 in the "Sandro Pertini" Municipal Gardens, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the event. With about sixty exhibitors and the theme "Guardians of the Earth," the fair offered plants, ancient fruits, and meetings on land consumption, urban greenery, and sustainable agriculture. A highlight was the planting of an Hibakujumoku, a tree that survived the Hiroshima bomb, with the Embassy of Japan.

Hortus Ostuni Autumn 2025: the tenth anniversary

From October 31 to November 2, 2025, the "Sandro Pertini" Municipal Gardens of Ostuni hosted the eleventh autumn edition of Hortus, in the year that celebrated the tenth anniversary of the event. Organized by Hortus Puglia, led by president Pierangelo Argentieri, the event brought together about sixty specialized exhibitors from all over Italy.

The theme of the edition, "Guardians of the Earth," guided a rich program of meetings dedicated to the relationship between man and nature: from land consumption to urban greenery, from orchid cultivation to ancient Puglian livestock breeds, up to sustainable tourism with a conference by Slow Food Puglia. There was no shortage of book presentations on the Mediterranean diet and sustainable gardens, and an exhibition of ancient fruits of Puglian biodiversity.

The Hiroshima tree ceremony

The most moving moment, on Sunday, November 2, was the planting ceremony of an Hibakujumoku, a tree that survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, in the presence of representatives of the Embassy of Japan and local authorities. Admission to the event, as per tradition, was free.
