Edition 2025 — Homage to the Immaculate
2025 Edition
The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, 2025, marked a historic debut: for the first time, the act of veneration at Piazza di Spagna was performed by Pope Leo XIV. The Pontiff, welcomed by the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri and Cardinal Vicar Baldo Reina, donated a basket of white roses at the foot of the Column of the Immaculate Conception, in front of a crowd of tens of thousands of people.
As per tradition, the day began at dawn with the homage of the firefighters, who hoisted the aerial ladder up to 27 meters to place the wreath of flowers in the arms of the Madonna. Throughout the morning, religious celebrations were held in nearby churches, while the afternoon culminated with the Pope's prayer for the dignity and peace of humanity.
