Holy Week of Caltanissetta — Vare Procession (Mysteries)

The 2025 edition confirmed the extraordinary popular participation in the Caltanissetta Holy Week. On Holy Wednesday, April 16, the Real Maestranza paraded from 9:45 AM with the handing over of the city keys, while in the evening, from 7:00 PM, the Varicedde wound through the Historic Center. On Maundy Thursday, April 17, at 8:00 PM, the majestic Vare procession began, with the sixteen sculptural groups of the Passion accompanied by the funeral marches of the bands. On Good Friday, April 18, at 7:00 PM, the procession of the Black Christ, the "Lord of the City," departed from the Sanctuary, carried on the shoulders of the Fogliamari in an atmosphere of silence and devotion. The week was preceded by Palm Sunday with the Jesus of Nazareth and the performances of 'A Scinnenza.
