Holy Week in Cattolica Eraclea

The 2025 edition of the Holy Week in Cattolica Eraclea renewed the traditional rites of the Agrigento village. On Maundy Thursday, after the Mass and the washing of the feet of the Apostles, the procession of the Madonna Addolorata began, carried by the confraternity women through all the village churches, where the faithful welcomed her with lamenti sung in dialect.

On Good Friday, the most significant day, the Via Crucis reached Monte San Calogero with the Crucifixion of the statue of Christ; in the evening, the procession of the urn continued through the streets of the village. On Easter Sunday, the festival culminated with the "incontru" in Piazza Roma, which commemorated the Resurrection, drawing faithful and visitors alike.
