Edition 2025 — Holy Week in Porto Empedocle
In 2025, the Holy Week of Porto Empedocle once again drew numerous devotees. On Good Friday, which fell on April 18th, the city relived the Passion with the procession of Christ the Redeemer and Our Lady of Sorrows, the Encounter, the Crucifixion, and the evening procession of the Urn, amidst the band's funeral marches and the chants of the lamenters.
The 2025 edition took place on Good Friday, April 18th. As per tradition, the morning saw the procession of Christ the Redeemer from the Mother Church and the Encounter with Our Lady of Sorrows from the Church of Santa Croce. In the afternoon, the Crucifixion and the Deposition preceded the procession of the Urn through the streets of Porto Empedocle, one of the most attended events in the Agrigento area, which deeply involved the many faithful who gathered.
