Holy Week 2025 in Grammichele

The 2025 edition of the Holy Week rites took place according to established tradition, organised by the Cristo alla Colonna association, the confraternities of the Santissimo Sacramento, the Anime Purganti, and the Passione, together with the devotees of San Michele and Santa Caterina.

The programme included the procession of Christ at the Column with the closing of the chapel upon return, the closing of the Crucifix chapel at the Church of San Leonardo at 7:30 PM on Good Friday, and at 8:00 PM the solemn procession of the Dead Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows from the Calvary Church. The rites concluded on Easter Sunday. The Good Friday procession, on April 18, 2025, was followed by numerous faithful and broadcast live on local channels.

2025 Programme

• Palm Sunday — Procession of Christ at the Column, 8:00 PM, with traditional closing of the chapel upon return.
• Holy Wednesday — Classical music concert at the Church of San Leonardo, 8:00 PM.
• Good Friday (April 18) — Closing of the Crucifix chapel at the Church of San Leonardo, 7:30 PM; procession of the Dead Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows from the Calvary Church, 8:00 PM.
• Easter Sunday — Procession of the Risen Christ from the Mother Church.
