Edition 2025 — Holy Week Agrigento

In 2025, the Agrigento Holy Week reached its climax on Friday, April 18, with the traditional Good Friday processions. Between the Cathedral and the Sanctuary of the Addolorata, the confraternities carried the statues of the Suffering Jesus, the Urn of the Dead Christ, and the Sorrowful Mother in procession, renewing a secular rite followed by thousands of faithful and visitors.

The 2025 edition of the Agrigento Holy Week saw Good Friday on April 18. At 9:00 AM, the procession of the Suffering Jesus began along the traditional route, with the meeting of the statues of Jesus and the Madonna in front of the Sanctuary of the Addolorata. In the afternoon, at the Cathedral, the Crucifixion (2:00 PM) and prayers at the Calvary took place, followed by the celebration of the Lord's Passion presided over by Archbishop Monsignor Alessandro Damiano (6:00 PM). In the evening, after the deposition of Jesus from the Cross (7:30 PM), the procession of the Urn with the Dead Christ and the statue of the Sorrowful Mother set off, followed by the Archbishop's message at the church of San Domenico and the return of the statues to their respective churches.
