Edition 2025 — Battle of Civitate Re-enactment

The second edition of the Historical Re-enactment of the Battle of Civitate was held from June 27 to 29, 2025, in San Paolo di Civitate, with the support of the Apulia Region. Three days featuring a historical conference, costumed processions, falconry, a fireworks show, period food tastings, and the reconstruction of the 1053 battle animated the historic center and the Madonna del Ponte area.

From June 27 to 29, 2025, San Paolo di Civitate hosted the second edition of the Historical Re-enactment of the Battle of Civitate.

  • Friday, June 27: historical conference at the former Convent of Sant'Antonio di Padova, with greetings from Mayor Costantino Rubino and contributions from scholars such as Luigi Russo, Cristian Guzzo, David Nicolle, Georgios Theotokis, and Stefano Latorre.
  • Saturday, June 28: historical pageant "The Reception of Pope Leo IX" (6:30 PM), falconry show (8:00 PM), fireworks display (8:30 PM), and period food tasting (9:00 PM).
  • Sunday, June 29, at Madonna del Ponte: falconry, medieval games, and combat workshops (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM), medieval dances (6:00 PM), and the battle re-enactment (6:30 PM).

The event, promoted by the Municipality with the contribution of the Apulia Region under regional law no. 42/2024, confirmed the growing success of a manifestation that enhances the historical identity of the Capitanata region.
