Historical Re-enactment – Battle of Ponte di Sacco

The 13th edition brought the Middle Ages to the heart of Ponsacco for an entire day. The program began at 3:30 PM in the public gardens with the Pisan crossbowmen competition, followed at 4:30 PM by the challenge of the Sacco archers. At 5:00 PM, the historical procession in costume set off toward the center, while at 5:30 PM, musicians and flag-wavers performed in Piazza della Repubblica. At 6:00 PM, the Palio of the districts took place — featuring trials such as tug-of-war, sack races, and themed games — directed by the Giullar Cortese. The evening continued with a medieval dinner, a popular performance, a falconry display, and a show by the group La Baracca. The six districts (Appiano, Castello, Sant'Andrea in Petriolo, La Ripa, Il Gabbiano, and Poggio San Giorgio) competed for the palio.
