Edition 2025 — Joust of Margaret of Austria

The 2025 edition of the Historical Re-enactment of Margaret of Austria took place on Sunday, August 24, starting at 4:00 PM in the historic center of Montereale, featuring a grand re-enactment in honor of the duchess, costumed processions, and a captivating chivalric joust. The event was part of the traditional Spiedino Festival weekend (August 22-24). On Monday, August 25, the associated cultural conference was held at Palazzo Farnese.

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM, the historic center of Montereale hosted a grand historical re-enactment in honor of Margaret of Austria, with costumed processions and a captivating chivalric joust that brought the Upper Aterno Valley village back to the atmosphere of the 16th century. The event was part of the traditional Spiedino Festival weekend (August 22-24), with food stalls dedicated to the typical dishes of the Upper Aterno Valley.

The re-enactment day was accompanied on Monday, August 25 at 4:00 PM, by the conference "The arrival of Margaret of Austria and... the 'restanza'", hosted in the prestigious Palazzo Farnese and sponsored by the Senate of the Republic. It focused on the role of culture in post-earthquake reconstruction, social cohesion, and the fight against the depopulation of inland areas. The 2025 edition took place within the context of the celebrations for L'Aquila Italian Capital of Culture 2026, with the announcement of the return of the duchess's portrait to the capital and the study of a museum dedicated to her in Montereale.
