Edition 2025 — Carnival of Coumba Freida

In January 2025, Ollomont traditionally opened the season of the Historical Carnival of Coumba Freida. The 'landzette', with their hand-embroidered Napoleonic costumes, paraded through the main town and its hamlets, bringing dances and propitiatory rites to one of the most fascinating carnivals in the Alps.

The 2025 edition of the Historical Carnival of Coumba Freida saw Ollomont in its usual role of opening the carnival season for the Great St. Bernard Valley and Valpelline. The 'landzette', with their flamboyant costumes inspired by the uniforms of Napoleonic soldiers and adorned with thousands of sequins, beads, and mirrors, animated the village with parades, dances, and family visits. A collective ritual with strong propitiatory value, which every year renews in the Aosta Valley municipality, in the province of Aosta, one of the oldest and most iconic traditions of the Alps.
