Hazelnut Festival (Badiavecchia)

Hazelnut Festival 2025 - 18th edition

The eighteenth edition of the Hazelnut Festival was held on October 4 and 5, 2025, in the village of Badiavecchia, a hamlet of Novara di Sicilia (province of Messina). The free event ran from Saturday lunch until Sunday afternoon, enlivening the ancient village between the Peloritani and Nebrodi mountains.

The absolute star was the hazelnut, featured in the famous hazelnut sausage, hazelnut arancini (about a thousand pieces prepared), traditional pastries, and hazelnut liqueur. The evenings were brightened by musical performances by Franco Laimo and Claudia Lo Cascio. On Sunday, October 5th, at 10:30 AM, a Eucharistic celebration took place at the Church of Santa Maria Annunziata, in the spirit of devotion to Saint Ugo the Abbot.
