The regional festival of grassroots football, between values, play and children on the field
The Grassroots Challenge Festival Regionale Marche is the major event celebrating youth football in the region. Promoted by the FIGC - Youth and School Sector (SGS) through the Regional Coordination and the Provincial Delegations of the Marche, the event brings together young male and female athletes from the grassroots categories from all five provinces of the Marche: Pesaro and Urbino, Ancona, Macerata, Fermo, and Ascoli Piceno, in Porto Recanati, in the Province of Macerata.
The Grassroots project, an English word referring to football "at the roots," is at the heart of the Federation's grassroots activities: no obsessive rankings or pressure from large numbers, but a day designed to help children grow through play. Mini-games, technical tests, and skill activities accompany the youngest in a journey of socialisation, respect for rules, fair play, and fun. It is a demonstration, on the field, of how sport can be a great educational tool.
The event takes place at the "Monaldi" Sports Centre in Porto Recanati, on Via Madonna del Potenza, a facility surrounded by greenery just a short walk from the Adriatic coast. The seaside town in the Province of Macerata, in the Marche region, thus provides the setting for a day of sport involving hundreds of children, families, managers, and coaches.
The program brings together several parallel events:
The clubs that win the regional stage earn a pass to the national final in Coverciano, the prestigious Federal Technical Centre of the FIGC near Florence, home of the Italian national teams. For the young Marche footballers, it is a symbolic and unforgettable achievement, crowning months of training and provincial tournaments.
The 2026 regional phase of the Grassroots Challenge Festival brought young athletes from the grassroots categories of all the Marche region to Porto Recanati, in a day coordinated by the technical staff of the FIGC Youth and School Sector. Three regional titles were up for grabs, with as many clubs qualifying for the national final in Coverciano (June 13-14, 2026): US Recanatese ASD in the Grassroots Challenge Festival, Villa Musone Calcio in the Torneo Magico, and Cus Ancona C5 in the Futsal Tournament. A morning dedicated to participation, fair play, and the educational values of sport.
