Edition 2025 — Gran Sasso Trail

The first edition of the Gran Sasso Trail took place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Pietracamela (TE), inaugurating the mountain running event organized by Gran Sasso Trail ASD in the heart of the Gran Sasso National Park. The program featured two races: the 37 km Trail del Gigante along the most beautiful slopes of the Abruzzo mountains and the Gran Sasso Trail, a fast and technical 11 km sprint.

Gran Sasso Trail 2025: the first edition

The first edition of the Gran Sasso Trail was held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, in Pietracamela, in the province of Teramo, marking the birth of a new trail running event on the Teramo side of the Gran Sasso.

The inaugural program included two races: the Trail del Gigante, which wound for 37 km across the most evocative slopes of the Abruzzo mountains, between climbs in the woods, scree slopes, and very fast technical descents, and the Gran Sasso Trail, an 11 km sprint, fast and technical. The event, organized by Gran Sasso Trail ASD, brought athletes and mountain running enthusiasts to the village of Pietracamela, laying the foundations for the following edition, which was expanded to three distances.
