The youth races that open the Legnano cycling season
The Gran Premio Pino Cozzi and the Targa d'Oro Città di Legnano are the races that traditionally open the cycling season in the Legnano area. Organized by US Legnanese 1913, one of the oldest cycling clubs in Italy, they are dedicated to youth categories and represent an investment in the future of the sport.
Now in its 52nd edition, the Gran Premio Pino Cozzi — Memorial Elio Barlocco and Roberto Brugnoni — is reserved for the male 'Allievi' category and is contested on a circuit of about 60 kilometers. A race that honors historic figures of local cycling and showcases young two-wheel talents.
The 106th Targa d'Oro Città di Legnano — Memorial Mauro Mezzanzanica — opens the Trofeo Rosa (Pink Trophy) and is dedicated to the 'Allieve' and 'Esordienti' women's categories, also serving as the provincial championship. This edition emphasizes women's cycling, a growing movement that the Legnano club has chosen to strongly support.
More than elite races, the GP Pino Cozzi and the Targa d'Oro are events that believe in young people and the future of cycling. The finish line is in Via XX Settembre, in the heart of Legnano, and the event confirms the historic bond between the city and cycling, in the heart of the Province of Milan and the Lombardy Region.
