Good Friday Procession of Acireale

In 2025, the Dead Christ procession of Acireale was held on Friday, April 18, starting at 8:30 PM from the church of Santa Maria dell'Indirizzo. Due to ongoing work at the church of the Most Holy Savior, the Calvary was set up in the church of the Indirizzo, made available by the Nicolosi family, holders of the patronage. The procession, organized by the Archconfraternity of the Most Holy Crucifix in San Pietro, passed through Piazza Salvo D'Acquisto, Piazza Indirizzo, and Corso Umberto. The week of Easter rites in Acireale also included, on April 11, the procession of the Christ at the Column, confirming the richness of the local tradition linked to the Passion of Christ.
