The ATCL touring festival stops at the Villa Borghese Gardens in Artena
GLOCAL - Arts and Entertainment through Alleys and Squares is the touring festival conceived and promoted by ATCL - Multidisciplinary Circuit of the Lazio Region, a project that travels through various towns in Lazio during the summer of 2026 to bring culture, entertainment, and participation to the squares and alleys of the villages. After stops in Colonna and Nettuno, the festival arrives in Artena, in the province of Rome, where on August 29 and 30, 2026, it enlivens the Villa Borghese Gardens with two days of free events.
The GLOCAL concept combines the global dimension of performing arts with the local character of the territories: auteur theater, great live music, street performances, and activities for families move out of theaters to inhabit public spaces. In Artena, a village with a characteristic medieval layout perched on the Lepini Mountains, the green setting of the Villa Borghese Gardens hosts a program designed for all ages, with a special focus on urban regeneration and cultural accessibility.
The two days alternate afternoon workshops for children with high-profile evening shows:
The Artena stop brings into dialogue traditional folk music, represented by the Rom repertoire of the Acquaragia Drom, and the sustainable creativity of No Funny Stuff, which transforms recycling into art. The common thread is the meeting of cultures and generations, with workshops that actively involve children and families, bringing them closer to themes of nature and environmental respect.
Located in the heart of Lazio, at the foot of the Lepini Mountains, Artena is famous for its pedestrian-only historic center and the timeless atmosphere of its alleys. Hosting GLOCAL in the Villa Borghese Gardens means returning a space for sharing and celebration to the community, in line with the festival's vocation to enhance the places and villages of the Lazio Region. The organization is handled by ATCL, with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Lazio Region, and the Municipality of Artena.
The 2026 edition of GLOCAL - Arts and Entertainment through Alleys and Squares concludes its touring journey in Lazio right in Artena, after stops in Colonna and Nettuno. In the Villa Borghese Gardens, educational workshops for children alternate with evening shows of folk music and street arts, in a program with free admission organized by ATCL - Multidisciplinary Circuit of the Lazio Region.
Artena can be reached by car from the A1 motorway (Valmontone exit) or via the Casilina road; the Colleferro-Segni-Paliano railway station, on the Rome-Cassino line, is a few kilometers from the center. Events take place in the Villa Borghese Gardens.
All shows and workshops are free to attend. Evening events generally start at 9:00 PM; children's workshops are held in the afternoon.
It is recommended to check the updated schedule on the channels of ATCL - Multidisciplinary Circuit of the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Artena before heading to the location.
