Giudei Festival of San Fratello

The 2025 edition of the Giudei Festival took place during the three central days of Holy Week in San Fratello, in the Nebrodi Mountains in the province of Messina. As every year, dozens of Giudei in red and yellow jackets and trousers, with their faces covered by the characteristic hood and armed with trumpets and chains, roamed the village streets in groups.

The program followed the traditional structure: the Pietà procession on Holy Wednesday, the Mass of the Lord's Supper and the visit to the altars of repose on Holy Thursday, and the Stations of the Cross and the solemn procession of the Dead Christ, Our Lady of Sorrows, and the floats of the Mysteries on Good Friday, accompanied by funeral marches. The event, organized by Pro Loco San Fratello APS, confirmed its appeal as one of the most unique Easter rituals in Sicily.
