Giubbiana of Gallarate

The 2025 edition of the Giubbiana confirmed the vitality of this popular rite in Gallarate. On the last Thursday of January, the large effigy of the Gioeubia was set ablaze in the bonfire that, according to Lombard tradition, banishes winter and bad luck, paving the way for spring. Around the fire, the community gathered for the usual distribution of risotto and luganiga, in an evening that Pro Loco Gallarate organizes on a rotating basis among the city's districts and hamlets, keeping alive one of the most beloved events of the Gallarate winter calendar.
