About Giro del Castionese
A Spring Walk Through the Hills of Castion
The Giro del Castionese, known to everyone as the Pedonata del Primo Maggio (May 1st Walk), is the running event that inaugurates spring every year in Castion, one of the most populous hamlets of Belluno, the Dolomite capital of Veneto. It is a non-competitive march open to everyone: athletes, families, children, and simple enthusiasts of outdoor walks.
Two Routes Through the Castion Landscape
The event offers two routes: a longer one of 10 kilometers and a shorter, more accessible one of 4 kilometers. Both wind through the suggestive panoramas of the Castion plateau, offering glimpses of the Belluno Dolomites and passing through meadows, country roads, and characteristic corners of the hamlets.
A Charitable Purpose
More than a race, the Giro del Castionese is a solidarity festival. It is organized by the Parents' Committee of the Castion Primary School in collaboration with the Pro Loco Pieve Castionese, and the proceeds are used to fund school projects, educational materials, and scholarships for the children of the area. Over the years, it has become a consolidated tradition, capable of uniting sport, community, and educational commitment.
Giro del Castionese — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Giro del Castionese reaches its 49th edition and takes place on Friday, May 1st, 2026, in Castion, a hamlet of Belluno. The event confirms its tried-and-tested formula of a non-competitive march with two distances, designed to welcome walkers of all levels and entire families.
The meeting point and start are set in the square at the Castion Primary School, where bibs can be collected in the hours before the start. The proceeds from the event support projects, materials, and scholarships for the children of the area.

Friday, May 1st, 2026 — Castion (Belluno)
- 7:30 AM - 9:15 AM — Bib collection in the square at the Primary School
- 9:30 AM — Start of the 10 km route
- 9:45 AM — Start of the 4 km route
Both routes cross the landscapes of the Castion plateau. Bibs can also be collected in advance during the Caret event in Castion on April 25th.

The bib can be collected in the square before the start (approximately from 7:30 AM to 9:15 AM). Information and forms are available on the website castion-belluno.it or at the contacts of the Parents' Committee.
