Edition 2025 — Giro d'Italia in Fermo

The 2025 Giro d'Italia, the 108th edition of the Pink Race, took place from May 9 to June 1, starting from Durrës, Albania, and finishing in Rome. The overall victory went to Briton Simon Yates (Team Visma–Lease a Bike), ahead of Isaac del Toro and Richard Carapaz. That year, the route did not pass through the Marche region, but it was from 2025 that the anticipation for the return of the great stage race to Fermo began to build.

Giro d'Italia 2025

The 108th edition of the Giro d'Italia kicked off on May 9, 2025, from Durrës, Albania, and concluded on June 1 in Rome after 21 stages. The overall classification was won by Simon Yates (Team Visma–Lease a Bike), his first Giro victory, ahead of Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates) and Richard Carapaz (EF Education–EasyPost).

The 2025 route did not include stages in the Marche region nor finishes in Fermo: however, it was during that season that the announcement of the Pink Race's return to the provincial capital of Fermo was confirmed, with the finish on the Girfalco scheduled for the following year. This anticipation reignited the enthusiasm of the entire province for one of Italy's greatest sporting events.
