Giostra della Jaletta 2025

The 2025 edition of the Giostra della Jaletta took place on August 20th in San Marco la Catola, in the heart of the Monti Dauni in the province of Foggia. As per tradition, the event followed the celebrations for the patron saint, San Liberato Martire.

The village came alive from the morning with the historical pageant, while in the afternoon, the knights of the seven districts faced off beneath the walls of the Palazzo Ducale, attempting to thread the rod into the ring-shaped slot beneath the jaletta, the wooden tub filled with water suspended between two balconies. Points were awarded according to the horse's gait: five for a gallop, three for a trot, one for a walk. The challenge confirmed the community's strong bond with this tradition, unique in all of Puglia.
