The massive indoor Christmas market in Rome's San Paolo district
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Giftland - The City of Gifts is the Christmas event brought to you by Vintage Market Roma. Every December, it breathes new life into one of the capital's most evocative industrial spaces: the former ATAC depot at Via Alessandro Severo 48, now known as the San Paolo District. Located in the San Paolo neighborhood, just a stone's throw from the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, it is a key event in Rome's metropolitan area.
The formula is simple and has won over thousands of locals: an entirely indoor Christmas market covering over 6,000 square meters, where you can find the perfect gift regardless of the December weather. It offers a more informal and creative alternative to the traditional Christmas villages found in the historic center.
The heart of Giftland lies in its selection of exhibitors: more than 200 vendors from across the peninsula, hand-picked by the organizers. The visitor route features stalls and corners dedicated to:
Giftland is more than just a market; it is an experience. The schedule includes free creative workshops for adults and teens, covering topics like ceramics, embroidery, crochet, tufting, candle making, natural cosmetics, and personalizing postcards and tote bags.
For the little ones, there is a dedicated kids' area featuring Christmas-themed workshops, storytelling, games, and the unmissable visit from Santa Claus. Throughout the event, live music, DJ sets, and temporary art exhibitions keep the atmosphere vibrant.
A spacious food and beverage area, featuring food trucks and selected vendors, offers street food, traditional holiday sweets, mulled wine, and hot chocolate. The event is pet-friendly, so you are welcome to visit with your dog.
Giftland appeals to those looking for a less standardized Christmas experience. Here, you won't find mass-produced items, but rather unique pieces, independent creations, and upcycled objects. It is also a great opportunity to explore a neighborhood often off the beaten tourist path, blending the industrial architecture of the former tram depot with the nearby Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls and the Ostiense-Garbatella axis, one of the most lively areas of contemporary Rome.
Held during the first weekends of December, it is the perfect starting point for Christmas shopping, well ahead of the last-minute rush.
Rome's large indoor Christmas market is expected to return in December 2026 to the spaces of the former ATAC depot in San Paolo, but the official calendar has not yet been published.
Based on previous editions, we can expect an event spread over the first weekends of December, with over 200 exhibitors across 6,000 square meters, creative workshops, a kids' area with Santa Claus, live music, and a food court. However, none of this is currently confirmed by the organizers.
To find out the final dates and program, it is best to follow the official channels of Vintage Market Roma.
San Paolo District, former ATAC Depot, Via Alessandro Severo 48, 00145 Rome (San Paolo district).
In past editions, the event was open continuously from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with free-will donation entry. Always check official channels for current hours and access policies before traveling.
The event is entirely indoors, so it takes place rain or shine. We recommend arriving by metro, as the area gets very busy during December weekends. The event is pet-friendly.
