Edition 2025 — Gara del Solco
The 400th edition
In 2025, the Gara del Solco of Rocca di Mezzo (AQ) reached the historic milestone of its 400th edition, celebrating four centuries of a tradition documented since 1625. The event took place on Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, October 12, 2025, organised by the Pro Loco with the patronage of the Municipality and the Sirente-Velino Regional Park.
Saturday saw the parade of the teams (5:00 PM), the blessing (6:30 PM), and, at 7:45 PM, the lighting of the beacon at San Calvario, which officially kicked off the night-time challenge on the slopes of Monte Rotondo at 8:00 PM. On Sunday, the community gathered for the procession (11:00 AM), Holy Mass (11:30 AM), and the final awards ceremony (12:30 PM) with the presentation of the municipal banner to the winning team. "The Solco is the sign that unites generations," recalled Mayor Emilio Nusca, highlighting the identity value of a ritual unique in Italy.
