The author cinema review at Cinema Teatro Il Piccolo in Jesi
Venerdì al Piccolo is the film review that has accompanied cinema enthusiasts in Jesi, in the Marche region, for years. Organized by the social promotion association Res Humanae, the review transforms Cinema Teatro Il Piccolo, at Via San Giuseppe 27, into a meeting point every Friday evening for the public from the Municipality of Jesi and the entire Vallesina area, in the province of Ancona.
The selection focuses on Italian and international author cinema: titles that have generated buzz at major festivals, from the Venice Film Festival to the Cannes Film Festival, and which often don't find space in commercial programming. The review has thus become a valuable opportunity to discover works by established and emerging directors, from Italian cinema to European and world cinema, in their original version or dubbed.
Screenings are held every Friday evening at 9:15 PM. The review is divided into two cycles: a winter edition, which begins in January, and a spring edition that continues until May. The admission ticket has a modest cost, designed to encourage the widest possible participation and to maintain the bond between the city and the cinema.
Active since 2017, the Venerdì al Piccolo review is now a cultural reference point for Jesi and Vallesina: over the years it has presented over two hundred screenings and attracted more than twelve thousand spectators. A result that testifies to the vitality of a project born from a love for cinema and the desire to cultivate a community of attentive and curious viewers, capable of engaging with the language of contemporary author cinema.
The 2026 edition of the review took place from January 16 to May 15, every Friday evening at 9:15 PM at Cinema Teatro Il Piccolo in Jesi.
The opening on January 16 featured *Io sono ancora qui* by Walter Salles, followed on January 23 by *Nonostante* by Valerio Mastandrea. February presented *Sotto le stelle di Parigi* by Claus Drexel, *Emilia Pérez* by Jacques Audiard, *L'ultimo turno* by Petra Volpe, and *Gloria!* by Margherita Vicario. March featured *La chimera* by Alice Rohrwacher, *A Real Pain* by Jesse Eisenberg, and *Le assaggiatrici* by Silvio Soldini.
The spring program included *The Life of Chuck* by Mike Flanagan, *Un crimine imperfetto* by Frank Dubosc, *Un semplice incidente* by Jafar Panahi, *Elisa* by Leonardo Di Costanzo, and concluded on May 15 with *La sindrome degli amori passati* by Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni.
